California Shelves Batch Of Moderna Vaccines Over Allergy Concerns

California health officials are calling on COVID-19 vaccine providers to stop using a batch of Moderna’s shots after a handful of people who were inoculated at the same site all had allergic reactions.

Fewer than 10 people reported reactions after recieving doses at a San Diego vaccination site last week, according to FOX5 San Diego.

“All appeared to be experiencing a possible severe allergic reaction during the standard observation period – a type of adverse event that the CDC reports some people have experienced when receiving a COVID-19 vaccine. The vaccine site switched to another lot of Moderna vaccine after closing for a few hours,” the California Department of Public Health said. Read more…..

After being authorized for emergency use, Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine is being shipped to 4,000 communities nationwide. Between this vaccine and Pfizer’s, 7.9 million doses have been allocated for distribution this week, according to Gen. Gustave Perna, Operation Warp Speed’s chief operating officer.
